I evaluated an 18 year old boy who: a) had the motor skills of a 4 year old and b) LOVED to moonwalk....a lot.

St. Baldricks!

Every year... Dell holds a fundraiser for cancer research. To raise money, people VOLUNTEER to shave their heads in front of LOTS of people! This year- about 180 people shaved their heads at the event and raised $84,353.31 to combat cancer!!! It was such a great experience! And yes... girls do it too! And yes... I still have hair :-) One of the PTs I work with did shave her head though... oh and she is preggers! She looks cute :-) It was fun to return to work and see who all was bald.

Old Peeps

One thing I love about old people is that most of them have lost most of their sense of smell, so I can have coffee breath or pass gas and not have to worry about it bothering them :).

Anyway, every day at 10 am, there is a chapel service in the multi-purpose room next to the therapy gym. CCC is founded by the Church of Christ, so they typically don't play instruments while singing in a worship service. So, I get to hear circa 30-50 elderly Jesus-loving sweet people singing accapella all the great hymns every day! I have started purposefully walking around that area with patients so that I can sing out loud along with them. I'll try to get a video at some point. I always wonder what it's like for the poor pastor to have about 75% of the audience fall asleep at some point during the sermon... Also, during most afternoons, one of the residents plays the piano like Mozart. They are so sweet.

They have guest singers/choirs/entertainers come in about twice a week and they all play right next to the gym, so we get lots of action and I just wish I could capture it all. I snuck a video the other day of this one couple who were truly the twangiest singers I have ever heard. Unfortunately, my clip is mostly just music, but I sure wish yall coulda heard these two live!!!

Today Sarah found out that she's having a girl! AnnaLynn Mae Angell. Aint it cute?! So I spent about 30 minutes in Babies R Us trying to pick out the perfect congratulations outfit. I happened upon this Baby crib bedding/room set (http://www.babysupermall.com/main/products/car/carc545bed4.html?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ComparativeShopping) and seriously considered purchasing it for my future son. I know, it's ridiculous. Of course I showed it to Tim an he loves it also and said I could get it lol...but I'll try to be good :) But, it's perfect for us and our little future coon hunter!!!!

My friends Heather and Kristen went to high school with this girl. Her mom has been battling breast cancer for 5 years. These pictures were taken at Harris Methodist. All the hospital staff accommodated for them to get married at the hospital so her mom could be there. The wedding was last weekend, her mom died less than a week later. The pictures were taken by Dustin's (Heather's fiance') sister. What sweet memories...

The last week at APTA - sad! I had to get a drug test for the next internship. Quick hop on the metro and bam! Drug screen done. Guess where? Across the street from this famous house. So, I can't say there wasn't some last minute sightseeing. Where else would that happen, come on, geez. :)

My sweet friends Cameron and Lisa at their wedding. They were so happy - and there is karaoke in the background - I think it was Taylor Swift. It was so great to see them tie the knot!















I've done a little bit of work on our upcoming wedding. I'm putting together some 'mock' centerpieces. Had a lot of fun and they smelled great. What do you think? Sliced lemons in different amounts of water with votive candles. Just one teaser.






Morgan - yes, I think I'll still want to use some of the glasses/vases you showed in a way early post. Just not sure which yet, and I don't want them to get lost or messed up in the mix. Thanks for the offer, and I'll keep you posted!



We got word - Jimmy has interviews in Waco at St. Alban's and in Austin at St. Matthew's. Today is his birthday, and we are happy. :) :) :)

CSM 2010!

I had a fantastic time being at CSM this year. I loved listening in on some meetings with Practice chairs from the Peds Section to New Jersey and California. Some states are doing pretty amazing work out there. Erin, Chase, and I also enjoyed sitting in on the lectures speaking to our professors. We sat by a few educators who would look at us every time the speaker cracked a joke about students. Awk.

Here are some highlights:

"lunch" in San Fransisco at 10:30 before arriving at San Diego, and before the 30 minute wait to get a taxi. Look at that fog!


The gorgeous hotel that half of the courses were in. Imagine this full of therapists walking to and from. I named CSM the sensible shoe and good posture convention. Hey - there's Erin!

My revelation - I decided after going to the 'what is women's health PT really about' that it might not be for me. Not that I don't love women issues (please insert the female symbol under all o's written), but I can't say it is where I want to focus on right now. So, yay for PT!

Wow! The new internship at Children's Legacy is going well. I don't think I was fully prepared for a clinic setting after my cubicle style internship for so long. My CI has a high standard for me, and I think that will be good in the end. The commute is fantastic, the clinic is beautiful, and I think I have a lot to learn. Oddly enough, if has felt like doing ortho rehab with a different population. I start treating some kids next week, so back to the books for me!

Lately in Ausitn...

So last Tuesday in Austin, we FINALLY got our taste of the snow that has been everywhere else!
Not as much as Dallas, DC, or OH...
but I'll take what I can get! At least it stuck
and it coated the rooftops
which gave us some pretty scenery!

I also go the chance to go to a UT basketball game! I definitely felt like a traitor in my burnt orange... but I had to get the full experience! And... Baylor also played that night so I kept up with that game on my phone! Sic Em bears for a win over the Aggies! I thought about Maggie the whole time b/c I sat close to the band!
