Ruthie's Visit Day 1
This morning I went in to Toyota of Plano to get my car serviced on 2 recalls. Ruthie was still sleeping when I left and the work was only supposed to take max 2 hours. Of course I forgot to take my PT study items, so I read magazines and then found out that it was going to take much longer than orinially stated. Ruthie had gotten up and was starting to get bored, so I got her to plan the menu for tonight's meal and make a grocery list. I got on the shuttle van and an hour and 15 minutes later I got home. The shuttle driver's name was Juan and we talked the whole way, quite interesting, he was very friendly. The car took 6 hours to be ready, so we were homebound for a good while today. Mr. Marty drove us back to the dealership and told us of his Alaska cruise and gave me the lowdown on his recent occurence of back pain. We went grocery shopping, then proceeded to make Cassoulet of Venison and Cheesy Rice with Brocolli. Let me tell you, this cassoulet was very fancy and gourmet and tasted heavenly. It takes 3.5 hours to make, plus time to marinate, so it was very tender and flavorful. You can of course make it with any meat.
Apparently a cassoulet is a layer of beans with a rich meaty stew topped with pie crust. Here is a photo and the recipe is at jfolse.com

(apple pie with a sweet cream cheese topping). I skipped small group tonight (oops!), but Tim went to represent :). Tonight we shall watch Extraordinary Measures and workout and raid a friends' fridge/pantry before her move to Cali tomorrow. Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures, we're getting massages and Tim and I are surprising Ruthie with a very cool trip downtown!!!
